RAW Thoughts And Results As It Happens 10/06/08

RAW Is Jericho

Chris Jericho’s music hits and he is coming out to start RAW, still holding his belt.  His mouth is all fucked up, black and blue.  Jericho says that Adamle has a big meeting with Shane and Steph and Jericho is taking his place as GM tonight.  He says he is going to do his best to run the show tonight.  Jericho then says HBK disfigured him, and opened his mouth to show a broken tooth.  He announces HBK vs. Lance Cade in a No-DQ match.  Jericho says he is done with HBK, he is the true World Champion.  Batista’s music hits, crowd goes crazy for the #1 Contender to Jericho’s title.  Batista asked Jericho when he was getting his title shot, Jericho said get out of my ring, and Batista said he had 2 things to say.  1, Jericho is going to defend the title against him, and 2, then he picks him up and gives him a Spinebuster.  It would be a good idea to just give Batista the title.  The crowd goes apeshit for him and he comes off as pretty much one of the biggest stars on RAW.

When they come back from commercial, they show a video that happened during the break where Jericho announces Batista vs. JBL for Batista’s #1 Contendership and he is the special guest ref.

Jamie Noble/Mickie James vs. Santino/Beth Phoenix.  Santino gets on the mic says that he is going to try to become more American and he has become a fan of the NBA.  He then revealed a Oklahoma City Thunder shirt and the crowd booed him like crazy (Seattle was home to the Thunder, which was known as the Sonics before they moved to Oklahoma).    Short match.  While the ref was distracted, Beth grabbed Noble and held him and Santino came from behind and rolled him up and got the win.  Winners: Santino/Beth.  After the match, Noble brawled with Regal who was ringside for the match.  The ref broke it up.

They cut to backstage with Todd Grisham and HBK.  He says he is hurt, but tonight he is going to show everyone he has plenty of gas left in the tank.  HBK’s promos used to be so good when he was a young asshole.  Now they to me they don’t mean as much.

Here comes Kofi Kingston.  He will be facing Ted Dibiase

Kofi Kingston vs. Ted Dibiase.  Before the match starts, CM Punk comes out.  He is in Kofi’s corner.  Dibiase just hit a Double Stomp onto Kofi, never seen him use that before.  Kofi got distracted by Cody, who got taken out by Punk, but Dibiase came from behind and hit Kofi with his finisher to get the win.  It was a nice little match.  Kofi reminds me of Kanyon kind of, with all his weird variations and moves.  Winner: Ted Dibiase.

Jericho is in the back talking to Orton.  Jericho tells him that he is going to put him to work tonight.

They are playing a video recapping Cena’s injury and surgery.  The interview the Dr. who performed the surgery and he said Cena should be back in 3-4 months with no limitations.

Rey Mysterio is on his way out now, followed by Matt Hardy.  They are going up against Mark Henry and Kane.

Rey Mysterio/Matt Hardy vs. Kane/Mark Henry.  Awesome match.  Rey went to dive onto Mark Henry on the outside while Matt was going to the top to hit Kane with the leg drop.  Henry caught Rey and from the floor, threw Rey into the top rope and knocked Matt off and Kane grabbed him and hit him with a chokeslam.  I don’t know what it is about these tag matches lately.  They are fucking great.  Mysterio has alot to do with it, I think.  Mysterio and Kane stare eachother down after the match.  Winners: Kane/Mark Henry.

Lance Cade vs HBK, No-DQ is next.  At the beginning of the match, Cade throws HBK to the outside and pummels his ass.  He sets up a table.  Cade drives HBK through the table with his finisher.  Cade grabs a chair, but Michaels takes it from Cade then gives him a huge chairshot and now he is repeatedly hitting Cade with the chair while he is laying on the mat.  Michaels is acting all crazy, he didn’t even know where to go for the pin.  That was great.  He pins Cade after a shitload of chairshots.  Winner: HBK.  HBK’s music hits and he is just standing in the corner staring at Cade.  He grabs the chair again and beats the piss out of Cade with it.  Crowd is going nuts, “HBK!, HBK!”.

Back from commercial and Jerry Lawler is in the ring.  He says the fans will get to choose Santino’s opponent at Cyber Sunday for his IC title.  The choices are Roddy Piper, Goldust, Honky Tonk Man.

Khali is on his way to the ring.  He is talking gibberish about Johnny Knoxville from Jackass.  They show the video from Khali’s appearance on Jackassworld.com.  Knoxville asked Khali if he had a big dong since he was a big guy, Khali got pissed and walked off the set.  Khali wants to show he has a sense of fun so he is going to host The Kiss Cam tonight.  The camera lands on Lillian last and Khali kissed her.  She doesn’t know what just happened.  This is great, I hope Khali turns.  A comedic Khali is the way to go.

The Miz and Morrison are out for commentary.  Jillian Hall is in the ring and she is singing Smells Like Teen Spirit.  Kelly Kelly comes out.  Now  here comes Cryme Tyme.  They are on commentary too.

Kelly Kelly vs. Jillian Hall.  Holy shit, Morrison just called Cryme Tyme Jonas Brothers groupies.  Oh shit!  In the middle of them arguing Lawler says, “calm down guys, this isn’t The View”.  This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen.  Alls I hear is yo momma jokes.  Oh shit, Gaspar was freestyling and Morrison tried to and his was so fucking dumb it was the greatest thing ever.  Morrison just said something about cheese on his abs.  This is a work of art.  Gaspar says Kelly Kelly can get down.  In the middle of all his greatness there was a match.  Alls I know is Kelly Kelly won with what I think was a small package.  Winner: Kelly Kelly.  Real winners: anyone watching.

They play another video of Cena.  This time its the day of his surgery.  They operated on him at 11am and he asked the Dr. to leave at 3pm.  By 4pm he was at the arena saying hello to the locker room, after having  neck surgery that morning.

Batista vs. JBL for #1 Contendership.  Jericho is the ref and he whispered to Lillian and she calls out Regal who is the guest time keeper.  Then Orton as a special guest commentator.  I’d like to see Orton help Batista somehow.  Here comes Batista.  Batista hit a suplex and went for a cover, but Jericho wouldn’t count.  They went to the outside and Jericho pretended to yell at JBL and keep his back turned while Regal attacked Batista.  I want this so badly to involve an Orton turn.  Batista whipped JBL into the corner and tried to clothesline him in the corner, but Jericho tripped him.  Batista then speared Jericho and JBL at the same time.  There was no ref, Adamle appears out of nowhere and brings out a new ref.  Batista hits the Batista bomb for the win.  Winner: Batista.

Adamle is on the mic and says that Jericho will face Batista at Cyber Sunday.  And the fans will decide who the special ref will be.  Orton, HBK, or Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Not a bad RAW at all.  The tag match was good and the main event wasn’t bad.  It was a nice set up show for Cyber Sunday.
