RAW Thoughts/Results As It Happens 11/03/08
This is the so-called “800th” RAW, even though they had the 800th show in September. Oh well who cares, right?
Orton comes out at the beginning and says he isn’t leaving until Steph and Shane come out. He wants Adamle fired. He takes a seat at ringside. Here come the Hardy Boyz. Followed out by MVP and then THE Brian Kendrick.
Hardys vs. MVP/Kendrick. Crowd going apeshit for Jeff and Matt. Good match, I am loving the amount of tag matches on RAW lately. Jeff hit the swanton on MVP and Matt made the cover to get the win. Winners: The Hardyz
Throughout the night it looks like they are going to be showing old clips of RAW. The first video was highlights from the 1st episode of RAW. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan wasn’t allowed in the building and he kept dressing in disguises trying to get let in. I miss Heenan on TV.
They come back from commercial and are showing the Razor Ramon vs. 1-2-3 Kid match from episode #17, where Kid scored the upset victory.
8-man battle royale and the winner faces Santino for the IC title next week. Manu/Cody/Ted/JTG/Gaspar/Snitsky/Regal/Jamie Noble. Santino is out for commentary with Beth. Holy shit, all three dudes from Priceless eliminate Snitsky, then Ted eliminates his own tag partners. Noble was just eliminated. Regal was outside the ring, but not thrown over the top. JTG just got eliminated by Ted. Ted took out Chad, then Regal got back in the ring and eliminated Ted. Winner: William Regal. So Regal gets the shot next week. Orton is still outside the ring watching.
They cut to a limo in the back and Steph and Shane get out. Steph tells Shane to handle this.
Now they are showing a clip from #409 where Shane was on Nitro saying he bought WCW.
Orton is back in the ring, demanding Shane fix the problems with Adamle. Shane comes out and says he shares the same name with his father, but he isn’t him. Adamle then comes out. Adamle resigns as GM, because the job corrupted him. He thanked Shane for the opportunity and left the ring. Orton says that Adamle owns him an apology. Shane says that Orton owns Adamle one, if anything. Shane says that he talked to Orton’s Drs and they said he has been cleared to wrestle for weeks. Shane says he is wrestling tonight. Orton says he isn’t prepared, he doesn’t have his gear. Shane says he has taken care of everything. He told him he will be wrestling CM Punk. I don’t know if Shane made thata segment or what, but it was really good. Maybe it was Adamle resigning. I don’t know, but I liked it.

Vladimir Kozlov vs. Bret “The Hitman” Haas. I’m not going to lie. I marked when I heard Hitman’s music, I didn’t think it was him, but I think I had a flashback. I can’t wait for the day Bret is in a WWE ring again. Kozlov pushed Haas against the ropes and jammed his head into his chest and pinned him in a match under 30 seconds long. Winner: Kozlov.
Episode #257. DX Invades Nitro. Thats some classic shit right there.
DX vs. Morrison/Miz is up after the commercial. DX came out and they forgot to do the DX chops to the pyro. They got a cue from someone to do it and did it, but HHH joked after about forgetting. This is a great promo by DX right here. Its actually funny. They showed the Miz and Morrison’s high school pictures and made fun of them. Great stuff. Miz/Morrison are finally on their way to the ring. Morrison just hit HHH with Sweet Chin Music. Then he tagged in Miz, instead of pinning him. Miz tried to get HHH in the Pedigree, but he countered it. HBK came in, hit his superkick, then HHH hit the Pedigree on Miz and got the win for DX. Winners: DX.
JBL and Shane are in their office, JBL says that he wants to be GM. Shane says he will take it into consideration. Shane tells him he is going to be in a high profile match tonight. Shane announces Undertaker vs. JBL, tonight.
Episode #243. Mike Tyson on RAW. Austin flicks off Tyson, which starts a brawl. “TYSON AND AUSTIN!, TYSON AND AUSTIN”. Classic JR line.
Divas 16 tag match is next. Its faces vs. heels, I am sure you can figure out the participants. They went to start the match, but the faces were down 1 person, Mae Young’s music hits and she is the 8th person. This was one of the best things I’ve ever seen on RAW. Mae got the tag and came in and destroyed the whole team with forearms. She took everyone out, when Beth came from behind and rolled her up and pinned her. Winners: Heel Divas. That was awesome. Mae fell over while executing some forearms, great stuff.
Episode #456. Rocky/Hogan. Rocky asks Hogan to main event against him at Wrestlemania 18.
CM Punk vs. Randy Orton. They were having an awesome match. It was back and forth, good as shit, then Orton went for the Orton, but Dibiase came out of nowhere and clotheslined Punk, getting Orton DQd. When Dibiase was on Punk, pounding him, Orton kicked Ted in the head and had a furious look on his face. Winner: by DQ, CM Punk. Commercial.
Cody and Manu got in Orton’s face in the back. Orton says if they got a problem do something about it. They didn’t do shit. Orton says maybe there is hope for those two after all. Ted just got punted, Ted will end up being out of Priceless and Cody and Manu go with Orton? Who knows.
Episode #475. Taker vs Jeff Hardy, ladder match for the Undisputed title.
JR is out to do commentary with Tazz for the JBL/Taker match. Undertaker making a rare appearance on RAW. I’d like to see him just move to RAW. Taker was pretty much squashing JBL, when they bumped heads and JBL went to the outside and purposely got counted out. When the ref hit 10, HBK came down and threw him in the ring and Taker gave him the Tombstone. Winner: by count out, The Undertaker.
Chris Jericho is talking to Shane and he wants to know the announcement. He said that whoever is champion after tonight, will face John Cena at Survivor Series.
Episode #304. Austin sprays beer all over the Corporation.
I really don’t know what I just witnessed. All I can picture is Goldust grinding on Michael Cole. A random Ron Simmons sighting. DAMN.
Episode #775. Ric Flair’s retirement party.
Episode #630. Kane ruins Edge and Lita’s wedding.
Kane/Mark Henry vs. Rey Mysterio/Kofi Kingston. Henry pinned Kofi after the world’s strongest slam. Fuck the match. What happened after is better. Khali came out and attacked Kane and Henry, helping Rey. Winners: Kane and Mark Henry. I’ve been waiting for Khali to turn for awhile, I am happy about this.
For a record 142 weeks in a row we get another Cena video.
Cage Match: Batista vs. Chris Jericho for the World Title. Holy shit. What the hell? Chris Jericho just won the title back. He climbed out of the cage and touched the floor, Batista had him by the hair but Jericho knocked him off the cage on the inside. Winner: And new champion, Chris Jericho. Batista sat in the corner bloodied, in disbelief.
A nice surprise at the end of a good match, on a good RAW. This show was loaded. One of the better shows I can remember.
