ECW On SciFi Thoughts 7/22/08

Show was taped earlier tonight.  I didn’t put spoilers on the site because I myself did not want to know them going into the show.

The Miz vs. John Morrison vs. Matt Hardy vs. Finlay winner gets shot at ECW champ at Summerslam.  Teddy Long is in the ring and welcomes everyone to ECW.  Teddy wants to present Mark Henry with the new style ECW belt.  It is silver and not very colorful at all.  Very plain.  You can barely even see the ECW written on the belt.  Henry and Atlas come out.  Atlas is saying that they are so happy to see the new title in the city where the original ECW was based.  Atlas has already fucked up 2 lines.  He said this is a start of a new ECW, and keeps saying looking at that beautiful belt.  That is a belt with pretisge and credibility and the fans can be proud of the belt because it is held by Mark Henry.  Crowd boos.  Atlas says anyone trying to hold onto the past they are going to get swept under the rug like Dreamer but those who realize it is a new ECW, they will get rewarded like Mark and Colin Delaney.  Colin’s music hits and he is on his way to the ring.  He is shaking Mark Henry’s hand.  He turned on Dreamer at the PPV on Sunday.  Colin has the mic and says everyone is asking him how he could turn on Dreamer.  Colin says he got nothing out of his relationship with Dreamer.  He got his butt kicked every night.  He said he realized his dream of becoming a WWE star and he was a laughing stock.  He was sick of it.  And then he saw Atlas, a legend in the corner of Mark Henry.  Then he saw Dreamer, a washed up loser.  He says Dreamer can’t do anything for himself, or Colin.  Henry and Atlas are where its at and Dreamer is the past and anyone would’ve done the same thing as he did.  Colin says he is on board with Henry and Atlas.  Teddy tells Colin to hold on, he is going to face Dreamer tonight.  Teddy says this is Philly!  This is ECW, this is extreme.  He calls for a ref to come to the ring, here comes Dreamer, the match is starting now.  Henry and Atlas are still in the ring.  Henry and Atlas wish Colin luck and leave the ring.  Commercial.  Not a bad segment, Atlas fucked up a couple times, but Adamle does that every segment, every week, so who cares.

Santino and Beth, A Match Made In Heaven

If you watched RAW last night, you saw possibly the greatest thing WWE has done this year, besides Punk winning the title.

After Santino’s match vs. Dlo Brown, Beth attempted to attack Santino, but he wouldn’t fight back and he tried to stop her.  Earlier he cut a promo that said he doesn’t wrestle people with fallopian tubes.   Santino grabbed her from behind and held her and she reversed it and had him, they seperated.  Stared at eachother for a few seconds, Santino made the first move by putting his hand on her hand, she then did the same thing to Santino, and they both leaned in and kissed eachother.  After they kissed, they both had looks on their faces like they didn’t know what to think of it.  Santino walked to the back with a look on his face like he was surprised and cocky at the same time.  They have the potential to be one of the best couples the WWE has ever seen.

DVD REVIEW - ROH RETURN ENGAGEMENT - 4.19.08

Chicago Ridge, IL

We open the show with a promo backstage by the Motor City Machine Guns.  They are talking about how their rematch with the Briscoes is one year in the making, and the question is who is the best tag team in the world.  They mention that the first word that comes to their minds when they think of the Briscoes is “redneck”.  Shelley says they are made in Detriot, and tonight they are winners.

Now they cut to the Briscoes for a promo.  Jay says last year when they beat the Machine Guns they proved they were the best tag team in the world.  And they will do it again tonight when they defeat them for a second time.

ROH Newswire for 7/22/08

July 22nd: It feels like it has been way too long since ROH has had live shows. We can’t wait to return to action this Friday in Toronto and this Saturday in Detroit for a pay-per-view taping. You can get tickets for under $10 now at www.ROHwrestling.com for both events. This could potentially be ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness’ toughest weekend yet as he is scheduled for two World Title Matches. The Toronto debut will see McGuinness put the belt on the line against Canada’s own Kevin Steen. So far, Nigel has had to pull the tights and hold the ropes to beat Steen. Meanwhile, Steen made McGuinness tap in the middle of the ring to the Sharpshooter and he had Nigel beat with the Package Piledriver, but Nigel was too close to the ropes. Steen will definitely have home field advantage in this one. The winner of Toronto will then put the World Title on the line 24 hours later against a very determined Claudio Castagnoli. In fact, Castagnoli has suggested that he will leave ROH is he does not win the belt. Go to the main page of ROHwrestling.com to read Castagnoli’s surprising statement or click here: http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/article.aspx?id=2169
